The premier center of the semi island was Eski Datça (Old Datça), until agriculture expansioned more and more. After this Reşadiye got the new center.
After the development of tourism and the trade at the seaschore and harbor got much more attractive for the people, the Iskele district and its’ population grew very fast. After a while the center of the semiisland moved, including all government offices and departments, from Reşadiye to the Iskele district. In the neighborhood of Iskele district, holiday complexes grew like mushroom from teh earth.
Though that, cause it could solve its’ sewage and deposit problems, this didn’t change the fact, that Datça has the clearest sea, between all other places, directly in teh city center.
From the most central hotel, supermarket, government office or else, the next beach is only 26 metres away.
On the other hand, cause of that the prices are rising with every year, a real-estate in Datça is the perfect future investment, though they are much under the european average.
If you think of it, that the EC is only 6 miles away (Symi-Greece) and the living costs in Datça make only 10% of that of Symi, you can understand why the people from Symi do their weekly shopping in Datça.
